incessant beeping

Yesterday when I cam into work, one of the Uninterrupted Power Supplies connected to a server in our office was beeping. It has been beeping ever since. Basically it beeps when the battery needs to be replaced. The battery needs to be ordered. Then, it needs to be installed which requires the power to the server to be rerouted or some such nonsense.

They got the battery in today (thank God), but they are having trouble rerouting the power or something or such so they can replace the battery.

So the beeping continues.

As does my headache.

I think that's a viable reason to work from home!!

And the fact that they keep taking the server down makes it hard to do anything anyway. I'm going home for lunch in a bit. maybe I'll take some files with me to work on.

ha. That happened when I was at mcardle. The battery was right behind my station too. But if you pushed a button it would stop... for about a minute! The it'd start again and someone else would get up to push the button. Amusing and deafening and insane all at once.
I hope they figure it out for your sanity! I understand! ::hug::

DAMN YOU APC! They should have made a "tech support has been called and we know about this problem" button so you could just turn it off. ARG!

I've got one sitting right under my lab bench, complete with shiny red light under the "NO BATTERY" icon.
