Faking a Root Beer Float

So, I've got a lot of soda in the apartment due to a $2/case sale at walmart a few weeks ago. I do plan on having it last a good long while, however this also leaves me with yummy sodas that I like in the house. YAY! This includes a few cases of diet rootbeer. So I had a hankering for a rootbeer float! Unfortunately, no vanilla ice cream in the house. Boo. HOWEVER, I do have a bunch of cool whip in the freezer (thus, having a very ice-creamy texture). I decided to give it a try. I made a mini rootbeer & cool whip float in a juice glass and SUCCESS! It created the same texture as it does when you add rootbeer to ice cream. You know, the weird bubbliness plus possibly crusting of the ice cream and other general weirdness that is totally crave-able, but very difficult to describe to people who have never had a float.

sweetness. So, if anyone else is in the same situation, definitely cool whip "lite", probably regular cool whip, and I'll try the cool whip "free" next time to see if that is okay.

And now I'm going to finish my float and go to bed.

One of the big companies used to make bananas foster ice cream. That made a good float.
