Freecycle: Post-Debate Edition

Offer: Obama/Biden Lawn Signs - Palmyra

I didn't watch the debate or listen to anything about it, but I did find it amusing that this e-mail came through at about 11 o'clock last night. The signs were pending pick up this morning to 2 different people.

So does this mean that people were fed up with Obama/Biden after the debate or that people were anxious to get their new lawn signs after the debate? Who does it favor???

The Obama/Biden lawn signs are extremely hard to come by. The campaign decided not to give them out, so you can pretty much only get one by buying one or by getting really lucky. They are highly sought after by Democratic party members. No joke.

Yeah, I guess it could go both ways!

Around here there are about equal Obama vs McCain signs in people's yards. I even counted the other day when I was driving around and it was exactly even! Although, I counted the "NOBAMA" sign for McCain, I don't know if I should have or not.

I would think that Nobama would mean McCain, but I suppose they could vote for a third party or not at all.

There are more McCain signs than Obama signs around here. I don't know if that means anything or not. Obama left North Dakota. He is not expected to win those 3 electoral votes. Minnesota looks to be Obamaland at the moment, although it has shifted back and forth.

Our more exciting race is the state Senate race. It is our incumbent doofus Norm Coleman up against incoming doofus Al Franken, plus a bonus independent doofus, Dean Barkley. You should see some of our ads. There are about 10 times as many senate ads as presidential ads. I am almost sicker of the senate race than the presidential race!

I can't believe that Al Franken is running. Man, first a pro wrestler and then him? What do you guys think you are, California? :-P

Our local races (state senate and other county-based and township-based races) are very interesting especially since they do not focus on parties at all.

Oh! Also! I didn't make this very clear before (and probably you don't care, ha!), but there were lots of Obama yard signs. However, when he announced Biden as his running mate, they didn't do new signs. So the Obama/Biden signs are really hard to get. Next time you look around, see how many Obama signs there are compared to Obama/Biden, because I'm curious.

oh yeah, waaaaaaay more Obama signs than Obama/Biden.

I don't think I've seen a single McCain/Palin sign either. Just "Family for McCain" signs mostly.

I've seen a lot of the McCain/Palin signs around here. I think it's about even with Obama and McCain/Palin, but barely any Obama/Biden. That's a jewel among the jewels. Or something. Ha ha. We should've gotten a sign, just to have one. But nobody drives by our house, and I doubt they would be much influenced by us anyway. :P

I hadn't seen a single McCain sign around here, until yesterday when I pulled up behind a car with a McCain/Palin bumper sticker.

There's an Obama/Biden sign just up the street from us... and soon there will be one just up our driveway. :)

Yay! You must live in a pretty blue area.

Where did you find your Obama/Biden sign, by the way? Did you have to buy one from the website or did you luck out and find one at a campaign headquarters?

I bought one... it was a combo deal to get a "Vote Nov 4th" t-shirt, car magnet and yard sign. I was going to just get the t-shirt, but it was only like $20 more for the combo.

Do the campaign headquarters usually hand out yard signs for free? Never been in one... Drove by the one in DuBois, PA a few times though.

And yes, NY is pretty blue. :) Campaigning here isn't quite as critical, but I'm going to be in VA the week of Nov 4th (don't worry, voting absentee) so I'll wear the t-shirt and display the car magnet there.

We have the round car magnet, a green-and-gold t-shirt, and Z recently ordered something online but has told me it's a secret surprise. Maybe it's jewelry! Heehee.

Yeah, the campaign offices will give out signs, stickers, buttons. We've been in ours about 5 times. The husband signed up to volunteer on election day -- either driving people to the polls or doing whatever else they need done that day. We got the stickers and buttons, but they are always out of signs. Then again, we live in the country, so a sign wouldn't be seen by too many people.

Looks like Minnesota is blue again for sure, but Obama has given up our neighboring North Dakota. I'm a little sad about that, because I was hoping to see ND go blue for once, but I can understand why he's not worrying about those 3 electoral votes. A lot of people around here are one issue voters: guns!

I've found that I look forward to the debates, but then zone out and don't actually watch them because they're boring and they say the same things. The best part last night was Tom Brokaw telling both candidates to move because they were standing in front of his script. haha.

That was my favorite part, too!!! LOL. I was glad I didn't miss the ending just for that.

What about when McCain called Obama "that one." His seething old-time anger is palpable.

Oh yeah! He said it in such a strange tone too, like he was someplace between a child and a 'he-who-must-not-be-named'. At first I didn't even realize he was refering to Obama.

I wasn't in the room for "that one."
