Habits of a Modern Stitcher

  1. How do you hold your fabric? With my hands most of the time.  Depending on the size of the project, though, I'll use a hoop or a scroll frame.
  2. Floss licker? Habitually!  I know it's bad, but *sniff* I can't help it!
  3. How do you thread your needle? By hand, but I do have one of those cheap-o threaders and I also have an automatic threader that was my grandmother's, but I almost never use them.
  4. What needle do you like best? I go through needles like some women go through men. :-P  If I have a favorite, it usually ends up getting bent, tarnished, what-have-you.
  5. Are you a needle loser? I'm a needle-dropper, but I almost always find them again.  Magnets are very helpful.
  6. What fabric do you prefer to stitch on? Any evenweave is my favorite.  Every time I stitch on linen, I say I'll never do that again, but I always end up going back.
  7. Bobbins or floss bags? Bobbins, all the way.
  8. Are you a scissors collector? Nope, I just have one pair that I carry around for stitching. I have another pair in my sewing stuff in the craft room.  That's it.
  9. Do you do your own framing, and if so, do you lace or pin? I have someone else do my framing.  But if I ever do my own, I'll be doing the lacing method.
  10. Are you a floss floozy? Hellz yeah. :-)  Thanks to a few good craigslist finds, I think I have almost every color of DMC, too. :-)
  11. Silk? I've never used it, but I have a feeling I'd get addicted if I did.
  12. Railroader? Sometimes, it depends on the project and if my floss is cooperating!
  13. Are you a pattern or designer snob? Not specifically, but there are some designs that I just won't waste my time doing (like, if they have no back stitching.  To me backstitching makes the whole thing look better, always).
  14. Do you get antsy when you give someone a stitched gift? I'm usually a little nervous that they won't appreciate it or something like that.
  15. Have you reached S.A.B.L.E.? Not yet, but I won't need to buy anything for a while, I'm sure.
  16. Do you wash your projects? Always.  I wash the fabric before I start, I wash any hand-dyed floss before I start (I haven't started washing and ironing DMC yet, but I'm sure the day will come), then I wash and iron when I'm finished.
