Labor Day Weekend update!

I realized I never wrote about all the exciting things that went on this weekend. I will avoid telling you about the non-exciting things.

Mike and I were planning on doing "something" after work, but the "something" had not been defined. Dad called me during the day and said that they were going to take Liz out for dinner to celebrate the fact that she passed the Praxis II on the first try! WOOOOO! She has "general knowledge" and is now rubbing it in our faces. :-P Anyway, we went to The Chocolate Cafe in Linglestown. I was late and Mike was late both due to traffic. The reservation was for 7pm, I got there at 7:15 and Mike arrived around 7:30. Oops. Oh well. We stayed until 10pm. I'm hoping Dad tipped the waitress well. :-P But it wasn't like there was a line for our table or anything, so yay for a relaxing meal with good company!

After dinner, Mike and I went back to his place and watched The Phantom of the Opera (new version) which is way longer than I thought and it was 1am by the time we were finished and I was exhausted (my family wore me out) so I crashed at Mike's place sans overnight bag.

Since I didn't get off of work early on friday (grumble), I also didn't get to go shopping before dinner. And going shopping on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend didn't sound so smart. So I hung out at home after getting back from Mike's place around noon. At about 8pm, I dropped off a box of games I freecycled and then went shopping. Lots of coupons and lots of savings! yay.

I skipped out on church and slept in. sleep is good. Mike and I headed over to my parents for the picnic around 4:30pm. We had hot dogs, chicken, and deer dogs on the grill! Yummy! Adam brought his shotgun and after dinner, we went up in the field and he shot clay pigeons (and Liz and Dad failed at throwing them very well). The last time he brought his gun over, I had to leave early, so I didn't get to try it out. So, this time I was excited! I must say, the gun was way heavier than I thought it would be. And the kick back was not as bad as I thought it would be (but my arm was sore until Tuesday). I didn't want to try to shoot something moving my first time, so Adam set up a clay pigeon on the ground. My first shot was way high (apparently) and my second shot went straight through it! Almost in the middle! I was pretty impressed with myself. Here's a picture of the clay pigeon which will be going in my scrapbook! :-D

After the shooting session, we had peach cobbler for dessert and then Mike and I head back to my place. We watched Once Upon a Mattress (with Tracy Ulman, Zooey Dechannel, and Carol Bernett) and then he headed home around 11, I think.

Slept in again and enjoyed just chilling and playing neopets. :-D Around 3pm, I headed out to get my free Chicken Strips from Chick-Fil-A. I got them by wearing a football team logo. However, I don't have any football gear, so I printed out a Patriots logo and pinned a piece of paper to my chest. And went out in public. :-D I am dedicated free-stuff-getter. :-)

After that, I went to Wegmans (YAY) which is in the same plaza. Used my coupons for the week and got some other things I needed. I hit up burger king on the way home (coupon for a free kids meal) to get my first neopets kids meal! Red JubJub. :-) With apple fries which were pretty good. When I got home, I made the next granola recipe in line for the granola challenge over on my recipe blog. And that was pretty much it.
