I don't feel like looking this up...

Anyone know the difference between a polka and a waltz? They're both three counts... maybe a waltz is just slow....?

Hmm... but the Pennsylvania Polka doesn't have 3 counts.

Oh... that's what it is... I forgot about the turn in the polka... with the Waltz you turn whenever and the Polka you turn on the 4th... ... I think.... can someone verify this?

Re:
What is this turning you speak of? It's a dance, not a driving route. :-P

Re:
I still don't follow.

Waltz is forward-2-3 back-2-3, etc... At least, that's what they teach in Ballroom Dancing at RIT. They didn't teach us the Polka though, so maybe that does have these "turns" you speak of. I wouldn't know.

i always thought a polka had more like 4 counts... at least dancing it i remember 1,2,3,and 1,2,3,and.... so its kinda like a waltz but with a little hop at the end.... polkas are much bouncier too, where as waltzs are very graceful. just my opinion, and i could be wrong :)
