That's quite a variety! There sure is a big spectrum: Princess, witch, ladybug...pimp. Psych Ward Escapee, Murderer, Gogo girl...Care Bear.

And were there seriously two kids dressed as LOBSTERS?? I didn't know that was such a popular costume.

Same kid. The equals signs denote a repeat customer. :-P The first time they came to the door, I said "What a cute crustacean!" and the dad laughed. :-P

Ah, okay. :) I was wondering if there was some new movie out with lobsters in it or something.

Most towns in my area have a designated night of the week for trick-or-treat seperate from the celebration of Halloween. According to my mom it is to help with safety and organization. My town does the Thursday night before Halloween. Some other towns do it on Tuesday or Wednesday. The upside is that some kids who have nice parents or family in different towns get to trick-or-treat multiple nights. :-D

I never knew how very strange it was until recently! The town where my sister goes to school closed the entire main street so that the trick-or-treaters didn't have to worry about traffic.

It is, I'm 2 hours from Catherine & we trick or treat on Halloween.

I know someone from Ohio that TorT last night, too.

hehe. I know you're probably tired of hearing about it, but I don't see how a celebration of halloween can be separate from "trick or treat". To me "trick or treat" is pretty much what halloween *is*. Also just curious, do they have signs at public places or on local tv telling people which night you have? I'd think it would be confusing for folks new to the area.

Well, since I grew up with it seperate it always seemed like 2 seperate things to me. Trick-or-treat was just about getting candy and wearing costumes. Halloween was when people had parties and did bad things (egging, tping, general "mischief") - ie, the day we stayed home, hoped we weren't targeted and prepared for the celebration All Saint's Day.

Fliers go home with the school kids (info about date/time and also safety tips) and it is on the news.

We've been celebrating "halloween" here for almost 2 weeks now what with the parades and such!

its official I want to live where you are now!

Halloween isn't the day for Mischief, that is the night before. Like today is considered Mischief night. Is Harrisburg confused? LOL. I would be....

And...The crime rate is no different then any other day, so I don't see how it stops crime.

*shrug* Supposedly they have more police around and less drunken people driving because the a random Thursday isn't the "party" day. Dunno. I've never actually been able to find out anything official about it.

Ooh, okay. Makes sense! Here it was always "cabbage night", the day kids did dumb things and made fools of themselves the day before halloween (tonight... ah!). Though it seems to have cooled in recent years, I want to remember to bring my Gp's pumpkins in tonight.

Wow, it sounds pretty popular there! I was at the high school today and faculty were wearing halloween oriented shirts and accessories, but the kids I saw looked normal. lol.

People came as students now? Really. I'm going to be the grouchy lady with the good candy bowl for all the cute little kids and the crappy candy for the slacker teenagers that pull stuff like that.

I am also impressed that you kept a list of all the costumes LOL
