What would you do?

Hypothetical situation:
War has broken out... nukes are about to go off left and right. You are one of the few people that has "procured"(don't ask me how) a bomb shelter filled with all kinds of amenities(small working kitchen, bed, toilet). You have just enough time to gather these few things before you have to take shelter:

One(1) person other than yourself
Two(2) personal belongings (this is very broad!)
Five(5) separate non-perishable foods(each in large quantities)
And the clothes that are on your back(Would you change your clothes?)

Who/What would you choose?

I would change my clothes so that I'd be wearing layers so I'd be okay in any reasonable temperature.

non parishable food?
1) canned clam chowder
2) boxes of ziti
3) I don't know.... too late at night to think

personal belongings
1) the llama
2) pictures

one person...
Kristy. My sister...

Hehehe, I think it's cute you would bring the llama. :) I love that llama, I have one too

If nukes were about to go off left and right, I'd rather just stand outside and die, as there'd be no world to live in afterward.

But as for the point of your question, I'd probably grab my best friend of the opposite sex, just in case we need to start humanity over again. :-P

you didn't list the other stuff you'd bring. :-P

I thought it was a choice we had to make between the 3...

Ok, well, then, in addition to that person...
A piano, and a printed encyclopedia.
Pasta, tomato sauce, canned soup, granola bars, and canned fruits.
I would probably want to change into something versatile. Many layers, full range of colors, and easily washable.

This is more like the "desert island" thing that a "nueclear war" thing, but I figured I'd change the setting since there wouldn't be a power generator on a desert island. :-P

Who says there would be a working power source after a nuclear war, either?
Mar. 25th, 2003 09:17 am (UTC)
Me! There would be a generator in the shelter, probably would run on Karosene or something.
Mar. 25th, 2003 09:26 am (UTC)
Is that one of your items that you choose?

And where would the Kerosene come from once it runs out?

in the original post, insert the word "etcetera" after the word "toilet".

(as cross-posted to Cindi)
...that's what was so strange and random about it[the original post]... I was trying to fall asleep and then I was just like, "what would I pick if I could only have a few things with me for the rest of my life?"... I had to think of a situtation where the question would be relavant.... and then I had to pick a place where it would work... now that I think about it, it doesn't really work... and I should probably cross-post this comment[which I did]... dah.

That's a good question...

Person: Orlando Bloom- if your gonna be stuck down there you might as well pick someone really hot! (and since i don't know him, we'd have plenty to talk about.)besides, all my family members would drive me crazy.
Belongings: my Bible and a can opener (see below)
Food: canned fruit, dried fruit, beef jerkey, canned ham, and probably something else canned, since that lasts longer.
I definitely change my clothes and pile on the layers.

So Catherine, what would you pick? you didn't even answer your own question.

I would bring the following:
My computer and a digital keyboard(an actual piano, if it would fit)
Spaghetti Sauce, canned soup, canned fruit, chicken-in-a-can*, and plenty of Penne.

*Chicken in a can is the coolest thing ever. I think it's an army ration, but we get them at the food pantry at home... it's an entire chicken. Dehydrated and put into a can. Apparently it's the best stuff since sliced bread! :-)
