Survey Excerpts

..... Okay, so maybe this is a cop-out, but I don't think I have answers for some of these....

What were your parents like before you were born?
My mom had the longest red hair I have ever seen(in a picture), and my dad had a beard until I started pulling on it ;-) I can't think of else that I know, specifically.

Was there anything unusual about your birth?
I was BALD. But that's not really unusual for babies. :-P

Did you have siblings at that time? How old were they?
Nope. I'm the oldest. :-)

What is your earliest memory about your house?
Standing over my sisters basnette, with my hands over my ears.... wishing she would stop crying.

What is your happiest childhood memory?
Any holiday at Grandma's house. :-)

What event in your childhood had the most impact on your life as an adult?
Not so much an event, but a person. Melanie Wolf. She had so much going on in her life that no one else ever had to deal with. She tried so hard to be friends, but she tried too hard.... She was normally quite annoying, but I always had sympathy for her, whether it showed or not. She mostly reminded me how truely blessed I am.

What is your first memory about school?
I remember lots of stuff about nursery school. Sitting on the big ladder waiting for Matt Bryant. Then, kissing him at the drawing table. Making my plate..(hey, I want my plate!)... playing in the water table with Mrs. Waters. Making finger paintings with pudding, because the teachers told us to! I thought that was the best thing ever.

Who was your favorite teacher?
Ever? Can't pick one. Mr. Sheaf(5th grade). Mr. Kistler(9th grade math, stage manager). Mrs. Kolmansberger(11th grade English), Mrs. Jones(2nd grade), Ms. Rae(3rd grade), Ms. Lovejoy(1st grade), Mrs. Saunders(kindergarden), Ms. Jones(8th grade Science).

What was your favorite subject in school?
Most kids would say lunch... I could never decide. I really liked everything... the level of enjoyment usually depended on the teacher. I still judge my classes that way.

How often did you get in trouble at school or at home?
Never at school (okay, I did have to stay in from recess a LOT in first grade, because I didn't finish my class work. But I didn't like recess, so I did it on purpose... and it wasn't really being in trouble because I got to stay with Ms. Lovejoy. :-P ). Rarely at home, and if I did it was usually Liz's fault. :-P

Were you spanked as a child?
Not as a serious punishment.

What do you wish you would have learned more about in school?
Career choices. Diversity... we didn't have any. :-P

Any interesting school memories you wish to share?
I think we've been through all that.

What schoolmate had the most impact on your life? In what way?
I guess that goes back to the answer about Melanie.

Who was your first best friend? How did they influence your life?
I'm not really sure. I didn't have a lot of friends in Elementary school... I guess the first good friend I ever had was Jen Good. 4th grade. She was a lot nicer when she wasn't hanging out with Elizabeth O'Hara (which turned out to be an on going thing, and thank goodness she realized it). I don't think Jen's ever changed... She's always been a great friend, I just wish we talked more. (I say this, because she'll probably read this. :-P Hi, JEN! *waves*)

What is your first memory about high school?
I remember the first day of high school.... I was glad that I knew my two closest friends alphabettically... Jen Good and Amanda Graehling, so I knew I wouldn't be alone. Mrs. Cassel was a good homeroom teacher.

What did you learn about yourself in high school?
A lot. I changed a lot. Middle School was so not me. And looking back on it, I can see the decisions that shaped my life. Trying out for musicals and plays. Doing things that I never would have done before... talking to new people! Being friends with boys! (Sam Naples, Dan Costic... wherever they are...)

What was the first moment you felt truly grown up?
Taking care of Albert for the first time, all by myself. I recognized the responsibilty in that. It made me feel very trusted and completely grown up. And I must have done a pretty decent job, 'cuz he's still alive and stuff. :-P

What was the first moment you felt independent?
Moving into college. Picking my own classes.

How old were you when you began to drive?
Got my permit when I was 16/17, I don't remember. Didn't get my license 'til I was 19. Summer after freshman year of college.

Who gave you your first kiss?
Does that mean he kissed me first? I guess that was Steve. *shutters* Everyone makes mistakes. That was mine.

Who was your first love?
Matt Bryant... I thought we were going to get married.

Who was the first person you wanted to marry?
See above. :-P

What is your best memory as a teenager with your friends?
Well, seeing as I've only not been a teenager for less than a year, that's a lot of recent memories to choose from. Can't pick. Probably a party at Brandt's house or something. Maybe Senior Prom. Maybe one of the first Borders nights. I can't choose.

What was the best party you went to when you were a teenager? What made it the best?
The first cast party that I stayed the whole night. (No, No, Nanette. Siebert's house??). That made me feel like my parents trusted me. I had a great time. It made me realize that I had truely made new friends through the Musical that would last past closing night. Great feeling. :-)

What was your first job?
I did neighborhood baby sitting. But my first official job was at Hoss's Steak and Sea House.

How much was your first paycheck and what did you do with it?
Probably was somewhere around $50-$70. Went directly into my money market account. I loved watching that thing grown... hehe... and I still do.

What were your thoughts about college when you were in high school?
I always knew I wanted to go. Never was quite sure what I wanted to study... there was so much out there, and I didn't know the half of it.

What schooling did you go to after high school?
hmmm... This is a tough one. Where am I again? Oh, yeah, RIT. :-P

What did you think you would do with your life after you graduated high school?
College. I always knew that.

What did you think about marriage and kids when you graduated from high school? I always knew I'd get married someday. I never thought about kids... I thought I'd adopt, maybe. I figured my career would come first. That view has changed completely. :-P

What did you do on your 21st birthday? Who was with you?
Hasn't happend yet. But, it has the potential to be extremely lame and sad.

What other important relationships did you have after high school?
*smirk* In order of appearance: Heather! Andrew, Steve, Matt, Brie, Mike(<3), Saul, Cindi, Jones, Dan, Sarah, Daniel... and most recently the Encore Girls and Justin. :-)

Which one of your parents are you most like?
I think I'm a lot like both of my parents. I don't think I could pick one, because I'm not completely like either of them.... I think we share a lot of the same traits and outlooks on life, but I also have my own thoughts and feelings.

How have you surprised yourself?
HA! I have friends. :-) And a boyfriend. :-* That just amazes me sometimes. Especially looking back at the person I was 6 years ago. :-P

What have you done that you never thought you would do?

What was the greatest challenge of your life so far?
Decisions. Making them without having any regrets.

Who do you wish you could see again?
I'll skip over the obvious people that I know I'll see again. But I wish I could have seen Pop-pop one last time.

Who was the lost love of your life?
Mike was... but then we found each other again. ;-)

What word would you most like people to associate with you?
Friendly. :-)

How old were you when you started to accept your own value?
Sometime in High School. Probably 11th grade. Somewhere in my stint as a quiz bowl participant. It felt so good to know something that Ben Dodson didn't. :-P

What is great about your life right now?
Everything. :-)

What could be better about your life?
If I saw Mike more often, everything would be perfect. :-)

What things are you doing to make your life better right now?
Looking for a co-op and trying to make next quarter the best one so far.

What is your family like now?

What do you think the future holds for you?
*sigh* Everything's out there... I've just gotta go get it. ;-) :-D

And right now, I'm going to go get a 1/4" guitar cable. :-P
