I just got a very official looking "Warning Message"(From Windows... with the little yellow triangle with the exclamation point)... it said:

"Your system may be vulnerable to Internet Attacks. It may be possible to break into your system and cause harmful damage. Download Internet Alert to protect your system now."

How appropriate, it went with a pop-up advertisement. That should seriously be illegal. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought I HAD to download the software... definately not good.... the other thing is, it definitely didn't really check, 'cuz I've got a firewall set up. They suck.

Hence why Linux still proves to be, while not the easiest, but safest system to run (at least for what most people do).

Re: Yup
I've vowed to try that someday... kinda scares me, though... maybe I should try someone else's system first....

Use Mozilla
Use Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org/) for your web browser. It is *very* configurable as to who and how you allow pop-ups to be opened. You can disable sertain sites from being allowed to open windows, you can disable *all* sites from opening pop-up windows, they've even improved it so you can prevent sites from opening windows until after a click event. (So if something that *shoud* open a pop up comes along, it will be allowed to.)

Hope this helps!

Re: Use Mozilla
I have 4 browsers on my computer. I use all of them('cept Netscape, I should get rid of that..).. All I'm saying is that I just happend to be using IE at the time(usually I use Opera *grin*)... and if I was some unsuspecting internet novice, I might have been con-ed into downloading their software. Personally, I think it's Microsoft's fault for allowing access to warning windows. Just my opinion.. feel free to trash it...as people seem to be doing lately anyway... :-/

I don't use Mozilla to browse, 'cuz it takes too long to load. I need every nano-second of my life... I don't have much longer to live.
