Here comes a pun! Duck!

The Irish practice a sport called "cliff shoving." It involves
a rodent called a rarie being pushed off a cliff. These days,
a shallow pit is used, rather than a cliff. The sport is indigenous
to Ireland, but they do get the occasional overseas competitor.
Recently, a man came all the way from Australia, flying 18 hours.
He said he had expected the lengthy flight. "After all, it's a long
way to tip a rarie."

It's ok, I don't either. My guess is there's some old saying about it being a long way to some place named something similar to Tiperarie.

Apparently it's a World War I-era song:

It's a Long Way to Tipperary.

I can believe I'm the only one that's heard of that before. I am so well rounded it hurts.
