Who thinks I should audition?

No, you're too talented. You should be doing theater, not crap. The intent is admirable; the execution, awful.

Yeah, but I haven't heard of anything else that auditions during winter quarter and runs during winter quarter.

I've only seen the Vagina Monologues once, but I didn't think they were bad. This was at RIT, too. Can you be more specific?

I have seen it twice and read the monologues... I think they should have been written in order to include men in the target audience if they had such an agenda to promote feminism and women's rights. You're not going to get anywhere important promoting women's rights to WOMEN. All the monologues did for me personally was to isolate women and to point out differences between the genders. More of an effort should have been made to unify us with men as human beings with the same status as human beings. Instead, it was a preachy, bitchy approach to an issue for which there is no greater cause; it has driven men away, rather than drawn them in and presented them with due reason to give women's rights a greater concern. I appreciate the agenda of the Vagina Monologues, but I think that their execution is far more harmful to their cause, and I have heard this perspective from many, many more people than others; particularly men, but also most women I know.

Yeah, what she said. :-)

Although, you can't really consider it "theatre"... more of just a performance.

Thanks for talking me out of it, Brie. :-D

I wish something were going on for Winter, really... Roger's show (Picasso at the Lapin Agile) is auditioning this weekend... Peter's show (Twelfth Night) is performing in Spring but starting rehearsals this Winter.

I think that the monologues can be done very well (they were quite good here last year) so if you think the sentiment is good (which I hope you do, being a woman) then you should audition and make the performance one that people remember for the message and for the quality. (since it seems it hasnt been good in the past, judging by the previous comment)
