Darn you, LJ!

I totally came up with this great post during class this evening about all this stuff that I did during work and how productive I was and a little to-do list for this evening.

And then lj was in "read-only" mode and I lost the darn thing. This is why I use a client to post at home. Much safer. (oh, yeah, like I just tried to post this, and lj is in "read-only mode" and I didn't lose it! woo.)

Oh, yeah, and 12 days and counting. holy moly.

Right, but if you had started off non-client you'd get used to fool-proofing yourself. In my case as soon as I realize I'm writing something I'd be ticked to lose I do a quick ctrl+a, ctrl+c. Then I keep doing it every paragraph or so. Basically the same as ctrl+s every paragraph or so in word. Works for me. ::shrug::

I knew you'd say that, that's why I likened it to saving in word. It's no more work than having to jump back and forth between the actual website and a 'client' that talks to it. 8-Þ

I do the same thing anytime I need to submit more than a paragraph into any form anywhere.

Well, not after every paragraph, just once before I submit the whole thing. I figure if something happens BEFORE I submit it that would cause it to be lost, chances are it must be so serious the clipboard would be gone too anyway. :)

But yeah, I've learned over the years from losing text in all sorts of places that no server can be trusted.

But I still use the LJ client. :-P It has spell check and automatic tags and cool helpful stuff, plus the auto-save.

Couldn't you have just hit the back button and recovered it?

When lj is in read-only mode, the update.bml page is not available. So, no. Believe me, I tried.
