Times up!

Looks like it's about time for another update around here. *sings* I've been to Buffalo, I've been to Buffalo.... *contains herself*... even if Bob thinks it's not much to see, it's still fun to be some place that you've never been before.... We didn't get to see much of the city... only about 3 blocks. heheh... before the show we went to grab some food at this little Italian place... ooooh... I split a Spinach Calzone with Ryan O. yummy! :-) Two kinds of cheese! Wooo! And they knew how to make the dough, too.

Beauty and the Beast was awesome. Even with the sappy Disney-fication that I was expecting, the effects were enough to win me over. Explosions(flash pots galore!) lighting effects, some kick-butt choreography, and costumes that just were to die for! Great show. Then we were off to Niagara Falls(that's right, 3 'a's in Niagara). The American side is pretty lame.. but there were good photos taken by all(that had cameras, that is)... We ended up back at Hard Rock at about 6:30(about a half an hour earlier than originallyl planed). Elvis room! It wasn't as impressive as I expected, and I didn't even think about it, but Hard Rock is a Pepsi(booo!) place. I had Dr. Pepper. And Chicken Fajitas! ooooh.....which meant that I got a free shot glass with my meal(a promotional thing!). Niftiness. I sat with Cindi and Dan and Boyle... and interesting mix, but it was fun. :-) Yeah! On the bus on the way back to RIT, we discovered that we didn't know enough song lyrics for a good sing-a-long... so I've started putting together a lyrics book for next year... so far I have:

Puff the Magic Dragon
The Piano Man
American Pie(you know, Don McLean's version..)
Book Of Love
The Rose
You've Lost that Loving Feeling

If anyone can think of some that I'm missing or forgetting about or just should be sung next time, let me know! :-)
I simply had to do wash this evening, but the laundry room that I usually use is TOTALLYL full... so I re-found the hidden laundry room..... there were 5 machines open(out of 8!!!)... and none of the dryers were even going! Yea!!!! I have to walk much further though, so I have to leave soon... And I have to finish my 5-page philosophy paper(I've got one page done!!! :-O ) Don't worry, it's not due 'til... Thursday. If I don't get it done to bring to the Writing Lab on Tuesday, I'm not going to Borders. There. I said it... now I'll stick with that statement..... I hope... :-P

I can think of a few songs to practice that would certainly make road trips more interesting if everyone knew the lyrics:

Well, enough of my sillyness, but I've actually wanted to try and see if some of this would work.... in theory. :)

Oh yeah, one other thing
I read your part about the hesitation about it being a Disney re-do and such. I had my reservations of that too, but it sounds like Disney pulled it off pretty well. I'm interested in hearing more about the costuming and effects they had. (although for costuming, please tell me they didn't have a large Mrs. Potts outfit that someone had to struggle to put on)

What I think Disney should do in order to REALLY draw in a crows is to do something like that, but ORIGINAL on stage. Get some writers to come up with a story and script that is then backed by a Disney budget with new original music, and then some, and put it out live on stage!

This would give Disney more credibility and prevent them from hacking away at more classical stuff. (If you knew the original story of the Little Mermaid, and some of the other great works that Disney butchered, you know what I'm talking about) Something created especially for stage (and not based off a Disney flick) would really get some interest, and draw more people to it, because then they WON'T go, "Oh, it's from Disney and it's based off one of their derivative musical animated movies that butchered a classic. No way am I seeing that!"

Disney has so much potential, and I see them waste it time and again. For shame, sometimes, for shame.

Oh well, enough Disney ranting from me. I'm done. :)

I don't know what potential you are talking about.
This has "inspired" me to write a whole entry about the topic... get ready for some major debates.
