How does looking at a website honor someone?

Same way parades and holidays do, I guess -- by reminding us that people sacrificed their lives because we told them to, and thanking those people for doing so.

"because we told them to"
huh?

I don't think anyone goes, "oh, so and so told me to sacrifice my life... OKAY! yay!"

Not directly, no. What we actually say is more like "I want food, gas, a nice job, and the lifestyle I'm accustomed to", which at a higher level becomes "We want a strong economy and access to vital resources", which becomes "We need to protect our strategic interests", which becomes marching orders whenever those interests are threatened. Or you could start with "We think everyone should be free" or "We have to follow our treaty obligations" or something of that nature. Regardless, whenever we fight a war, it's because of something we weren't prepared to give up. Our responsibility is to make sure that the things we start wars to protect are things that are really worth having people die for. And we can't do that unless we remember that they *are* dying. Hence the website.

I wasn't asking about the website this time around.
