That's weird- why does this poem rhyme in English? Victor Hugo was French.

Most of the time when poetry is translated, the translator does their best to follow both the form, function, and language that was used in the original. Translated poetry is never as good as it was in it's original language, but if you can get the jist of it, it's a bit easier than having to learn French. :-P
