Does anyone have any hints/tips/info on how to find out about Canadian border crossing? I heard from an Actual Canadian at they might start requiring a Passport to get BACK INTO the US from Canada before the end of the year. I don't want to get stuck in Canada on my Birthday. :-/

Edit: Mike doesn't have his Birth Cert. (neither do his parents; they lost it the *last* time they were in Canada). This is mostly why I am looking for some offical and first hand info. I have my SS card, drivers license, and Birth Cert, but Mike only has those first two. *shrug* Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

That's for non-us residents. Consider getting one anyway. Your birth certificate will suffice.

i agree with paul. it is much easier to get across the border with a passport but as long as you have a picture ID and a birth certificate, you should be OK for now.

also, my boyfriend and your boyfriend lived on the same floor freshman year.

which is interesting all things considered ;-)

Go ahead and get a passport but you're not going to need it any time soon. Crossing back into the US for us took about nine seconds, and we had JEFF AND NICHOLE WITH US

My parents just crossed on Wed.

My dad just carries his driver's license.
My mom has a passport.

Both work at the border.

For me, prior to me having a passport, I had my social security card, my driver's license (photo ID) and a copy of my birth certificate.

I think he should be okay, so long as he has two of the three. You could ask when you are going into Canada what you'll need to get back.

Also, next time he goes home he should go to the town hall where he was born and see if he can get a copy of the birth cert.

PS: Never carry around your actual birth certificate; make a copy!

Ahh I could tell u all about that. A few times I was able to cross with just a birthcertificate. My boyfriend claims that he crossed with just a license. But I highly suggest a birth certificate. If you have ur passport even better. I was stuck between the borders for hours one night because canada wouldnt let us in and the USA wouldnt let us back in. So definately a passport or b.c....good luck!
