I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that phase.
Even your emotions had an echo
In so much space

And when you're out there
Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy

~~ "Crazy" Gnarls Barkley

Definitely the best song of last year, imho ^_^
Have you seen the video?! It's awesome, even muted!

YAY! ^_^ Yeah, I love it.
And YouTube's blocked at work? How .... actually, that kinda makes logical sense, now doesn't it? :P I mean, if you're gonna block stuff to try to prohibit procrastination / distraction, YouTube IS prolly up there on the distract-o-meter. :P

Yup, that's one reason... the other is that the streaming really bogs down our already crappy network. We can't listen to internet radio or anything. :-( 'tis sad.

Question for both of you
Where do you hear new songs?

Re: Question for both of you
On the radio. Actually, that's pretty much the only way I listen to music anymore. I rarely listen to anything from my CD collection.

Re: Question for both of you
Ew, conglomerated, homogonized radio songs. ;-p

Re: Question for both of you
Well, where do you get yours, then? Aside from Hanson, that is. :-p

Re: Question for both of you
It sounds bad at the outset, by myspace mainly. You can do searches for genre's, or look up a group you've heard of from a co-worker or something. I think it's cool because there are tons of groups with myspace's. You could even come across some dudes who have a garage band in Kansas, but you really like their sound.

As opposed to the radio which (not all obviously, but definitely top 40 stations) chose for you what you listen to and play it over and over ad naseum. Most of which (imo anywho) isn't even that great to start with.

Also... check out 'The Great Divide' by Hanson on itunes. (Hey, you brought them up. :-p) All proceeds go to a neo-natal aids hospital in Africa. :)

Re: Question for both of you
Oh jeez, all OVER the place! :D I'm constantly taking lyric notes. I heart music so so much. Which may seem common, but I'm shocked how many people I've met who DON'T listen to music that often. I guess I just take it for granted, 'cause EVERY time I'm making dinner, driving, and virtually every time I'm surfing the web I've got some sort of music on.
Anyways, this is gonna be WAY longer than you ever wanted, but I'm long-winded, so here goes:

1) The radio. I'm not a HUGE radio listener, but WBER (here in Rochester) and WOXY (an online station, outta Chicago) are two HUGE indie stations. Mostly alternative, with some electronic and indie-pop thrown in for good measure.

2) Lala. Online CD-trading service, where I sent out CDs other people want, and they send me ones I want in return (for $1.75 per disc). I've gotten a LOT of great stuff this way that I've only been CURIOUS about, and now I have the full pressed disc and liners for less than 2 tracks on iTunes! And if I don't like what I got, I can send it back out again.

3) The Facebook/iTunes promotion last summer. Seriously, I'm wicked shocked just HOW MANY good bands I got interested in outta that. I guess everyone's bound to find SOMETHING in over 200 free tracks.

4) Friends. My friend Dan recommended WBER to me, and has given me rec's that have led to discovering some of my now FAVORITE artists. My boyfriend is constantly going "have you heard THIS?!" and my other friends from home and I are always trading CDs back and forth. Less so with my college friends, which is odd since we have the advantage of digital file sharing. But yeah, burned CDs are still my #1 method of receiving music from other people.

5) Blogs. I read Arjan Writes (indie-pop / pop), The Afterhours Blog (electronica / trance), The Yellow Stereo (alternative / indie), and Check the Cool Wax (a FANTASTIC source of retro & kooky recordings)

6) Soundtracks. It's someone's JOB to make sure a good mix of music ends up in every movie, so it's not surprising that soundtracks are not only themed to a certain genre, but also are filled with really GOOD music. ;) And since I'm Mr.-Listen-To-Soundtracks-All-The-Damn-Time, I hear lots and lots of different styles of stuff. Currently I'm digging "Breaking and Entering" by Underworld (and Gabriel Yared -- a mix of electronic dreamy-ambience with guitar and piano) and "Black Snake Moan" (a great collection of rough blues).

Quite possibly too much info, but there you have it! ^_^ I love music. :P

I like long-winded replies. Thanks! Very interesting.
